Defies state subpoena requiring him to turn over emails, letters and text messages as evidence in ethics violations

Torrance, CA – As reported in Los Angeles Times today, Republican Assemblyman David Hadley is being hauled into court for violating state campaign ethics rules – again. This time, Hadley is being compelled to turn over documents and evidence to the state’s ethics watchdog – documents he is refusing to turn over in defiance of the state’s subpoena.

Personally named in the subpoena, Hadley will be in court on Friday to face charges he is stonewalling the Fair Political Practices Commission’s (FPPC) investigation into his illegal campaign practices, specifically commingling of funds and illegal coordination between Republican billionaire Charles Munger’s “Independent Expenditure (IE) committee” and Hadley’s campaign.

This isn’t the first time he’s been in violation of state campaign ethics laws: in 2014, Republican Assemblyman David Hadley was found guilty of laundering $40,000 in illegal campaign contributions.

By not denouncing statement, Hadley proves again that he agrees with Trump

Torrance, CA – So here we are again. Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump makes yet another outrageous statement, this time saying that he will only accept the outcome of the presidential election if he wins. And, of course, predictably, Assemblymember David Hadley has once again refused to denounce him and this latest statement, which makes it appear once again that he agrees with his party’s presidential nominee.

Al Muratsuchi, candidate for Assembly for the 66th District, on the other hand, is the only candidate for Assembly denouncing trump's dangerous comments.

"It is outrageous and shocking that the standard bearer of the Republican Party would even consider rejecting our fundamental Democratic traditions of peaceful transfer of office," said Muratsuchi. "I wholeheartedly condemn Donald Trump's refusal to say he will accept the outcome of our Presidential election if it does not go his way. His comments undermine not only the legitimacy of our electoral process but also the health of our republic. I know better than most the result of a close and contested election, but I respect our Democratic process enough to accept the outcome."

Hadley holds up to $1 million in Wells Fargo Stock, one of the largest recipients in legislature of donations from Wells Fargo and employees

Torrance, CA – On the heels of revelations that Wells Fargo Bank routinely created sham accounts to defraud consumers, California’s Attorney General office announced it has opened a criminal investigation into the bank’s actions. This after the California Assembly Banking Committee recently held hearings to consider reforms and penalties for the illegal banking practices.

But, there was one committee member who didn’t even bother to show up to the committee hearing and has been conspicuously quiet on the whole subject: The 66th District’s Assemblyman David Hadley.

Why is that? Probably because he was the largest recipient of Wells Fargo campaign largess and is also one of the largest shareholders of Well Fargo stock in the Assembly. In fact, Hadley directly accepted over $26,000 from Wells Fargo and its employees, and public disclosure reports show he owns a personal financial stake in the bank of up to $1 million.

Hadley refuses to denounce Trump and now takes money from Governor closely associated with anti-immigration policies

Torrance, CA – Republican David Hadley sure seems to like those anti-immigration Republicans in his party. Trump has called Mexicans rapists and has repeatedly called for building a wall with Mexico. Yet, Hadley never really forcefully denounced him. Now, Hadley has taken $1,000 from Governor Pete Wilson, a prime supporter of California Proposition 187, a 1994 law that would have denied public services to illegal immigrants if it had been found constitutional.

Pretty sure Hadley won’t denounce or give back that money from Pete Wilson. Why? Because he, too, agrees with their anti-immigrant beliefs. Hadley even proudly keynoted the notoriously anti-immigrant Freedom Center retreat with a speech called, “How Conservatives Can Win in California.”

Torrance, CA – Tonight, Al Muratsuchi, candidate for Assembly for the 66th District, participated in the League of Women Voters’ forum at Toyota Hall in Torrance.  He spoke about many issues, including his plan to bring and create jobs for the South Bay, how he will keep the Torrance oil refinery safe for the people of Torrance and his support of Proposition 13.  He also spoke about his support of climate change legislation and a statewide ban on fracking.

“I am proud of my record in bringing jobs to the South Bay, especially in the area of aerospace.  I chaired the Assembly Aerospace committee, and as the chairman of that committee I introduced two bills that were signed into law.  One, AB777, was a bill that provided taxes as an incentive to keep private space exploration companies like SpaceX in the state in California.  This came after my visit to SpaceX. They were talking about leaving California for Texas. I obviously did not want that to happen, and wanted to encourage and help to grow one of the most exciting companies in the Southern California and the South Bay to grow.  I was able to get that signed into law.  SpaceX has now grown to over four thousand manufacturing jobs.  I also proud to have co-authored a bill that provided tax incentives that helped Northrop Grumman land the biggest Aerospace contract in decades that will bring over 5,500 thousand of jobs to Southern California.  These bills are job creator bills that I am proud to have offered and signed into law.”

But the truth? David Hadley is actually speaking to voters with “intellectual dishonesty.”

Here are examples:

  • Accusing Al Muratsuchi of making it more difficult to fire teachers who molest students and using pictures of children being dragged into the darkness by rapists.

TRUTH: Al Muratsuchi co-authored a bill to streamline firing of bad teachers, a bill endorsed by the L.A. Times and Crime Victims United. He cares about teachers and students, and the bill would have made it easier to fire teachers accused of improper behavior.

  • Sending mail to voters saying “Liar Al Muratsuchi takes big oil money” with a picture of Al Muratsuchi’s face in a puddle of oil

“I’m sure the voters in the 66th District would like to know that David Hadley has been hanging around with these extreme anti-immigration Republicans. As the saying goes, you are the company you keep. He needs to denounce all that Pete Wilson stands for, and return that money. Otherwise he has just proven what we all know to be true: that he is hiding his true record. He is too extreme for the South Bay,” says Mike Shimpock, campaign consultant.

"I condemn Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump’s recently released 2005 taped comments he made on Access Hollywood about women in the strongest of terms. Not only are his comments demeaning to women, they also reference sexual assault. Unbelievably, Trump said that he could grab a woman as he pleases, just because he is a 'star.' Domestic violence and sexual assault, in any form, are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated. Because of this, and the many other degrading statements Trump has said about women throughout the campaign, I agree with many in his party that Trump should drop out of the race."

"I also call on Republican Assemblymember David Hadley to demand that Donald Trump drop out of the race. So far, he has not condemned the tape. What’s worse, he even attended a Trump-sponsored event at Trump National Golf Club on Friday, the same day that the tape was released. But then again, Hadley isn’t exactly a friend to women."

Gloria Allred, Sandra Fluke among speakers who say Republican Assemblymember David Hadley is just like Trump, with 17 percent rating from Planned Parenthood and state certificate to fake “Pregnancy Crisis Center”

Rancho Palos Verdes, CA – Today, Al Muratuschi, candidate for Assembly for the 66th District, joined women’s rights activists Gloria Allred and Sandra Fluke as well as prominent women’s groups such as the National Abortion Rights Action league (NARAL) and the National Organization for Women (NOW) outside the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. They denounced Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s behavior and comments against women, including allegations in a lawsuit against Trump National Golf Club that he fired women who weren’t “pretty enough.”

“We want our daughter to grow up in a country that respects women, that does not discriminate against women based on their gender, age or appearance. A country with a President that supports equal pay, family leave and child care. A President who supports a woman’s right to choose,” says Muratsuchi.

Says Al Muratsuchi will stand up for the 66th District through support of school funding, the environment, women’s reproductive rights and strong job growth

Torrance, CA - Al Muratsuchi’s campaign to retake the 66th Assembly District seat continues to gain momentum as California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom endorses him in his bid to represent the South Bay.

“I am proud to endorse Al Muratsuchi for Assembly for the 66th District. I know he is the best candidate to represent the South Bay because he will bring the fight for good jobs, women’s reproductive choice and funding for schools to Sacramento. Most importantly, Al Muratsuchi votes his conscience and I know he will work aggressively to ensure that the air quality is safe for a region that has been too exposed, for too long, to polluting industries,” said Lieutenant Governor Newsom.
